Earlier this year I visited Note Design Studio in the super trendy part of Stockholm, Södermalm. They were hosting an exhibition which was a collaboration with Danish leather company Sørensen leathers. The collaboration was for Note Design Studio to select 20 fine leathers and use with beautiful and curated products.
This curation is a reflection of natural hues matched with the NCS – Natural Colour system , a cross industry colour system. This industry colour system for product design benefits designers, architects and manufacturers by communicating with colour. Note Design Studio have created a toolbox “The Colour Box” featuring their selected fine leathers, all matched to NCS and developed to inspire and “evoke emotions that only leather can.”
“Our concept is based on the idea of redefining natural leather. In a common sense, we easily define natural leather in tones of colours that range from brown to black. But our approach has been to look into nature itself, to find the true colours in nature, and to define and collect them into a harmonious scale.” Sanna Wåhlin
Within this exhibition there’s a selection of products from companies such as Fogia, Skagerak, Mitab, Nomad watches, Note Design Studio, Massproductions, Karl Anderssön & Sonner etc all using the selected Sørensen leathers.
I was particularly obsessed with this corner of the studio, the old style telephone booth perfectly blends in with the contemporary minimalism and colour tones.
This table by Massproductions is topped with leather, it’s the first soft leather coffee table I’ve ever seen. Very beautiful. Below I’ve added a picture of this table taken by Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen from Norm Architects, his photography is always so clean and detailed.
I found this a great insight to the collaborative nature of Scandinavian design and manufacturing and not to mention inspiring!

Beautiful photos hun and I absolutely adore that soft buttery, mocha-y leather! x
Oh those leather colours are just gorgeous! And that coffee table is a beauty. I don’t think I’d ever let anyone put a cuppa on it though 😉 Beautiful shots xxx
The design all looks so serene and beautiful. I would love to go back to Stockholm some time, so much inspiration.
