I feel like this year has been the moaniest year for weather talk, you know who you are… Now the sun has been intermittently gracing us with its presence it seems that all is forgotten. I for one am super excited about sitting outside on top or under a blanket surrounded by nature. However, completely unprepared with my garden. I’m hoping to turn it from a soulless a new built plot to a peaceful, slightly wild place to relax in. My garden is quite an unusual space with the front garden being the main one and the back garden hidden in the shade and closely overlooked by the neighbours. So there’s lots of work to do in order to get the balance right.

In the search for some much needed garden inspiration, I hopped on my bike (a healthy 9km ride) and headed to the Skagerak flagship showroom. This is where I know that they’ve got the balance right. There’s a zen like vibe with beautifully designed danish furniture and the ever-so wonderful plant pots scattered around.

The question is, what do I want from my garden? and how can I translate this zen feeling in my garden surrounded by urban built up, new builds? One step at a time. Garden inspiration first.

All I want from the garden is to grow things, dine and lounge and hopefully a bit of privacy but that’ll be super hard in my space. Though trees and tall grasses may help……

I have found the perfect lounge chair, it is at “my angle”. My brain pressure pain is so variable and certain angles relieve it. The Between Lines deck chair is the dream one! Maybe I should write a separate post on chairs with the ‘perfect angle’?……   I’m inspired to make sure that the furniture I use needs to suit my lifestyle and my body. A holistic garden maybe?

Though I don’t have many plants inside my house, I like the idea of connecting the interiors to the garden. As the famous saying goes ‘the garden is an extension of your home’. For this I’ll be using my Edge pots. Yep I collect them and I want more. I might mix them with some grey pots to further connect with my interior style.

I don’t like pretty plants. Wild and gnarly is much more style.

A zen feel inside the showroom with cuttings from the garden plants. Very inspiring.

This dark corner (inside the showroom) caught my eye it could almost be outside.

Lounging in the shade with the sun peaking through the trees. Also see the raise bed, separating the zones of the garden. Maybe this could create a natural screen from the neighbours?

For the love of naturally aged oak. What a beautiful place to host a dinner! Slightly traditional for my style but again it’s inspiring.

So there we have it. Incredible garden inspiration from Skagerak’s garden in Copenhagen. My mind is buzzing with ideas. I better be quick with my garden.. Who knows how long the sun will be here, 2 weeks probably…… nope I take that back I will NOT be one of those weather moaners!

The next step is to design the DREAM garden, forget the cost, what would the dream garden be? Then if I can’t buy the ideal items right now I’ll work out the next best solution. Getting the design right first is key. What are your garden, balcony or patio plans?
