I do love a good new nordic restaurant, Copenhagen has a fair few and this one has a twist. New restaurant IBU in the heart of Copenhagen’s Vesterbro offers Asian fusion cuisine with new nordic style. Head chef Henrik Jyrk (known from restaurant Kul in Kødbyen) has based some of these dishes on family recipes from South Asian cuisine while using the best Danish ingredients . You could say that this Danish/Asian fusion restaurant represents Henrik’s relationship as he is married to a Malaysian woman with culinary roots herself. But whatever the inspiration, I’m very happy to welcome this new restaurant with open arms, the menu is incredible!
Ferm Living have collaborated with restaurant IBU in designing the restaurant into a cosy, comfortable and intimate space. Great food and great design makes me a very happy girl.
Creative director and founder of Ferm Living, Trine Andersen and her team have designed such a welcoming restaurant. IBU isn’t a large restaurant but Trine has used her style and spatial skills in such a way that it feels both intimate and spacious. The colour palette throughout compliments the new Ferm Living products and also kinship to their showroom in the centre of Copenhagen. The restaurant is so cosy, modern and stylish. I could stay there for hours. In fact I went to the launch night and didn’t want to leave. It was truly beautiful both the food and the decor.
“A restaurant can be something significantly different from home, but we wanted to create a space that had some of the same elements. We set out to create an atmosphere that feels nice, welcoming, and comfortable,” Trine Andersen, founder and creative director of Ferm Living
Restaurant IBU
Opened at the beginning of January 2018. It accommodates 46 eating guests and is open Tuesday to Saturday on Vesterbrogade 56, 1620 Copenhagen

So pretty! I love the high contrast with the coral tone to break it up.
