Petra Bindel, photographer for Elle Decoration Sweden, opens her home and shows how her creative eye can make a space functional and beautiful.

Instead of stair banisters Petra installed a functional shelving wall unit which in itself looks decorative. I love these limed wood units, they bring so much interest to the room and cleverly designed from floor to ceiling, which emphasises the height of the room too.

Petra’s collection of furniture and accessories throughout the home is impressive, from a Danish classic table Øresund designed by Borge Mogensen , Muuto Nerd chairs to the Bang & Olufsen Beolit portible music system.  This is obviously a home of a design obsessive and I’m so impressed with the collection and level of detail.

Combining wallpaper offcuts is a great way to make a kids room fun and stylish. A well designed room lets your eyes travel around the space, grabbing your attention and interest, this room is a great example of that.

This home has inspired me to re-evaluate the colour tone throughout my home and not only collect beautifully designed items but to have fun with it too.
